Janome MOD-50 Removable Accessory Tray

Removable Accessory Tray

The Removable Accessory Tray has two main purposes.

Storage Space for Accessories:

It’s a space for keeping small sewing accessories like bobbins, extra sewing feet, seam rippers, and needles. This way, the accessories are easily accessible.

Conversion to Convertible Arm Sewing:

When removed, it exposes the free arm, which makes it easier to sew cylindrical or small projects like sleeves, cuffs, pant hems, and other narrow fabric pieces.

Janome MOD-50 Needle Plate

Needle Plate

The Needle Plate on the Janome MOD-50 Computerized Sewing Machine (also called a throat plate or stitch plate) is a flat metal plate located beneath the needle and sewing foot.

It has several important functions:

Keeps Fabric Steady:

The needle plate gives the fabric a flat, stable surface to rest on while sewing, preventing it from bunching up.

Helps with Straight Stitches:

It has seam guides that help sew evenly and keep the lines straight.

Feeding Mechanism:

The small openings in the plate let the fabric feeder grip the fabric and move it forward smoothly.

Allows the Needle to Do Its Job:

The hole in the plate lets the needle go up and down without obstruction while also allowing the bobbin thread to come through.

Prevents Fabric from Getting Pulled In:

A well-designed needle plate stops thin or delicate fabrics from getting sucked down into the machine.

Janome MOD 50 review:

Performance & Stitching Quality

The computerized machine has various built-in features that enhance its performance. Sewers can stitch multiple patterns as it has the standard stitch length and width. It is equipped with 50 built-in stitches and 3 one-step button openings. The sewing machine stitches a width of up to 7mm and a length of 5mm. Apart from quilting on sewing machine, it is useful for darning, creative stitching, and embroidery.

Quality, Design, & Build

With a weight of 12 lbs, the sewing machine is portable and easy to store. It is designed for convenience as it’s easily transportable. Its features include a drop feed, convertible arm, and 7-piece fabric feeder. This, combined with the sewing speed of 820 SPM, makes the Janome MOD 50 provide a smooth and consistent sewing experience. Hard-to-reach areas are easier to access due to the convertible arm.

Limitations & Things To Consider

With overall great performance and quality, some factors need to be considered before making a decision. The Janome MOD-50 Computerized Sewing Machine operates on a high voltage of 120V that is compatible with Canada and the U.S. only. It may require the use of a converter in countries like the UK, which may affect its performance.

The lightweight build makes it portable, however, the sewing machine might vibrate at high speeds (82 SPM), especially when working on thicker fabrics.

Customer Review

5.0 out of 5 stars – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Very good sewing machine!

Very happy with Janome MOD-50 Computerized Sewing Machine. I had another sewing machine before this one that was basic. Wanted a more “professional/higher quality” sewing machine, which is why I chose to change to Janome. I have had it for a few weeks now, and I am happy with the way this sewing machine sews. Moreover, I feel like it’s more stable than my previous machine, as it has no problems with fabric being stuck, for instance.
